Delicious Tuning - MAP Sensor Smoothie smooths out the power delivery on your Edelbrock E-force supercharger, primarily in the mid RPM range. When the MAP sensor is reading pressure values in mid to higher RPM range, the valve opening/closing in combination with the long runners on the Edelbrock supercharger cause a pulsation. This in turn can cause the AFR's to rapidly adjust and correct to try and target the correct AFR's. This is where the smoothie comes in, so that it will limit the amount of pulsations, and smooth out the power band in this range.
Research & Development:
We have done some of our own R&D on the Edelbrock Supercharger Kit and found that under certain wide open throttle conditions the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (located on the Edelbrock Supercharger) will jump erratically. In the logs provided on this page, the MAP Sensor will jump as much as 0.2 BAR (or 3 PSI of boost), within a few milliseconds. This behavior has a direct impact on the fuel injector pulse width which will cause the air/fuel ratios to become slightly unstable and this can lead to a rough feeling from the engine above 4500 RPM.
To combat this erratic behavior from the MAP Sensor we have developed a a MAP Sensor Smoothie V2 (V1 was electronic) that will extract more power out of the supercharger kit with no additional tuning needed. This module can improve the engine performance by about 5-10 horsepower, while also improving the power band above 4500 RPM.
